New for 2008...
- Exhibitor and Leader Badges
Beginning this year, all Exhibitors, 4-H Volunteers and FFA Advisors will be issued photo identification badges. These badges are to be worn at all times (except in the show rings if they would interfere or pose a safety hazard). The badges will be required for entry into the show barns/tents during show hours. Anyone not wearing a badge during his or her respective animal’s show hours (e.g. Swine is Friday, April 25 from 7:45 am to the end of the show) will not be admitted into the barn/tent area. This is necessary in order to keep the show on time and avoid injuries to exhibitors and animals.
- Record Books Required
4-H Record Books and FFA Record Books are required to be submitted by April 1, 2008, to 4-H Leaders and FFA Advisors, in order to be able to participate in this year’s EXPO. Anyone failing to turn their record book in on time will be DISQUALIFIED from participating in this year’s EXPO. Additional details will be forthcoming from your 4-H Leaders, FFA Advisors and in the 4-H Clover Communicator.
- Maximum Age
The Committee has adopted the 4-H age limit of 18 years as of January 1, 2008 for all exhibitors, including FFA members. No one over the age of 18 as of this date will be allowed to participate in EXPO (e.g. turned 19 years of age on December 31, 2007 or earlier).
- Exhibitors Must Show Own Animal in Auction
ALL exhibitors must show their own animal during the auction. Identification will be checked. Anyone in violation of this policy will be banned from the sale ring and forfeit their right to sell at the auction.
- Awarding of Grand & Reserve Champion Awards
Grand and Reserve Champion awards will only be awarded if the exhibitor / animal has received a BLUE ribbon. Additionally, the following guidelines will apply:
- For Showmanship only, there is no requirement on the minimum number of entries required for the awarding of Grand or Reserve Champion awards.
- For Conformation classes, the Grand and Reserve Champion awards will be given (at the established prize levels) if there are 3 or more ENTRIES in a class. If there are 2 or fewer ENTRIES in a class, the Grand and Reserve Champion awards will be given, however they will be at a reduced prize level.
- Optional Ultrasound Evaluation
An optional ultrasound evaluation of Market Swine, Steers, Goats and Sheep will be made available during this year’s EXPO. These Ultrasounds will be taken after weigh-in. The ultrasound, in conjunction with the weight of the animal will be judged against an industry standard. All exhibitors whose animals met the industry standards will be awarded a certificate. This is a valuable opportunity to assess carcass quality. This Evaluation is separate from the Judges’ opinions.
- Camping / Overnight Stays on the Rodeo Grounds
No exhibitor is allowed to stay overnight at the Rodeo Grounds without direct adult supervision. Only exhibitors who are staying overnight under the supervision of Parents, Guardians, FFA Advisors or Certified 4-H Leaders will be allowed. Anyone found in violation of this rule will be subject to expulsion from the show.
- Fees for Use of Water and/or Electrical Hookups
Per the Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo, anyone wishing to camp overnight and use the water and/or electrical hookups will be required to pay $20.00 per day.
- NO Dogs, Bikes, Rollerblades, Skateboards, Razors, etc. in Barns or Main Livestock Show Arena
For the safety of the animals and the exhibitors, the above items and animals are not allowed in the barns and show arena – including the bleachers. Please respect this rule for the safety of all. Seeing eye dogs for the sight impaired are an exception to this rule.
- Clean Aisle Policy in Barns and Tents
In order to keep the show moving on time and for the safety of all exhibitors and their animals, we will be enforcing a clean aisle policy 15 minutes prior to the start of a respective show animal’s show hours (e.g. Swine is Friday, April 25 from 7:45 am) until the end of the show. All items found in the aisles will be gathered up and placed in the designated “Lost and Found” area of the barn/tent.
